Free Pattern - Alice Gloves

Hi there,

Time for another freebie! These are the first gloves that I designed a few years ago. Super simple, DK weight gloves with the option to add a contrasting little bow.

These little gloves come in 5 sizes - 6-12m, 1-2Y, 2-4Y, 4-7Y and 7-10Y. Fingerless gloves are a great option, particularly for little toddlers who find full fingered gloves or mittens frustrating and restricting.

When I originally wrote this pattern, I used Aran weight yarn and a 4.5mm and 5mm hook. As my tension has significantly loosened overtime, I have rewritten the pattern for DK weight and smaller hooks. You could easily make these gloves in Aran weight using a tight tension and perhaps making one size smaller than your desired size.

These gloves are a very basic design, which means you really can play with the design to make it your own.

Why not add some rows of a more textured stitch? Instead of a bow you can add some crochet flowers? Finish the pattern a few rows earlier and add a lacy shell edging? Use a variegated or hand dyed yarn for some fun colour!

These gloves really are an amazing beginners project. Simple stitches, simple techniques and work up very quick! (I can smash out a pair in 1 - 1.5hrs.). Gloves are worked with the cuff ribbing worked flat and joined in the round

Notes;

Fingerless gloves are worked in flat rows for the cuff, joined in the round before working up the glove. Glove thumbs are shaped slightly so the left and right hand sides are slightly different, bow is added on at the end and completely optional.

Chain stitches at the end of the row are not included in the stitch count. A number infront of a stitch – e.g 2Hdc – means you work 2 Hdc stitches in the one stitch. A number following a stitch – e.g Hdc 2 – means work a Hdc in each of the next 2 stitches. Sequences between astericks are repeated the number of times shown – e.g *2Sc, Sc* x5

Stitch count is included in brackets after the row instructions.
